Project Overview
The objective was to transform raw sales data into a visual story that Donut Bytes’ managers could quickly understand and act on. The design highlights top flavors, strong and weak sales months, and seasonal peaks, while balancing polished professionalism with the brand’s playful personality. The final graphics were created to fit seamlessly into presentations and reports, bridging the gap between functional data and engaging storytelling.

Donut Bytes was reviewing half-year sales data from one of its franchise locations. The corporate team wanted to uncover patterns—such as top flavors, slow months, and seasonal spikes—to better anticipate production needs and shape marketing campaigns for the year ahead.
Approach

The narrative was built around three core findings—the top five flavors, monthly sales highs and lows, and seasonal spikes in demand. This structure created a clear arc with one bold centerpiece chart supported by two complementary visuals for added context.
To keep the narrative intuitive, I built one hero visualization as the centerpiece (the top 5 flavors) supported by two smaller charts (monthly sales totals and a heatmap of flavor peaks). This structure created a balance between depth of data and clarity of message.
Process
I transformed raw Excel data into a cohesive narrative through structured analysis, chart prototyping, and iterative design refinement.
The process began with cleaning and analyzing the data to identify top flavors, sales highs and lows, and seasonal spikes. I then mapped the story, chose chart types that were both clear and varied—a bar chart, column chart, and heatmap—and moved into design. Using brand colors and creating playful icons in Illustrator, I refined the layout and simplified the visuals to keep the story concise, balanced, and easy to digest.
Make insights sweet and memorable, just like the donuts themselves.
Final Design
The final infographic communicates key sales insights through a bold centerpiece and two supporting visuals that highlight both overall trends and seasonal peaks.
The deliverable was a compact yet comprehensive infographic. The bar chart of top flavors anchors the story, while the column chart of monthly totals highlights seasonal trends, and the heatmap reveals December as the month where most flavors peak. Together, these visuals form a narrative that’s clear, engaging, and immediately actionable for Donut Bytes’ leadership team.
